Life Matters segment, ABC Radio National: Childbirth

  • ABC Radio National (map)

The moment you have been working towards for nine months has arrived—the birth of your baby!

What choices did you make and options did you take when it came to the birth of your child? Did things go to "plan", or otherwise? Home or hospital? Vaginal or caesarean? Forceps or suction? Epidural or gas? Pain relief or TENS machine? Did your preferences change mid-birth, or perhaps with subsequent births too? Were others receptive to your choices?

With Guests:
Jenny Gamble Professor of Midwifery and Acting Head, School of Nursing and Midwifery at Griffith University.

Monica Dux Writer, commentator and author of Things I Didn't Expect (when I was expecting).

Dr Andrew Pesce Runs the Breech Delivery Clinic at Westmead Hospital.

Robyn Midwife for 23 years, now a nurse in an intensive care unit for newborns.
